[Meet the Team] Anisha’s first month at Why me?

Published: Thursday, September 21st, 2017

Anisha is currently studying Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Portsmouth. She has just started her placement year with us at Why me?

By taking this year to work with the organisation, I hope I can use the knowledge and experience I gain to help me with my future career decisions within the Criminal Justice System.

I have just started my placement year with Why me?. I aim to explore various areas of the criminal justice system. I hope to be able to expand on my knowledge of Restorative Justice as I have only briefly touched on it in lectures at university.

In my first weeks of working at Why me? I have started to learn new databases such as Lamplight and My RJ. I have worked alongside Jyoti with casework. I have also started writing a literature review on hate crime victims and their access to Restorative Justice. I have been lucky enough to be invited along to various meetings and conferences which I have thoroughly enjoyed. It has helped widen my knowledge of the Criminal Justice System.

I chose to apply for my placement year at Why me? as it is a great organisation which is working on a highly important subject, which needs to be more accessible in the Criminal Justice System. By having this year out, I hope to gain industry experience which will allow me to decide on the area of the Criminal Justice System I would like to go in to.

I have enjoyed my first two weeks at Why me? and being part of the team. I am looking forward to the rest of my placement year and all the opportunities I will be given.
