Why me? responds to the Ministry of Justice Restorative Justice Progress Report and Action Plan
Why me? welcomes the publication in March 2017 of the Ministry of Justice Restorative Justice Progress Report for the period 2014 – 2016 and Restorative Justice Action Plan for the period November 2016 – March 2018.
Lucy Jaffé, Director, Why me? comments:
We are pleased to finally see these strategic documents and in particular the action plan to further develop Restorative Justice (RJ). We acknowledge that there has been significant investment by the Government in RJ but it would be folly to imagine that it is job done. Victims’ awareness of the option of RJ is still too low. Evidence from our own research, Valuing Victims, has revealed significant variations in RJ services across the country which means access to RJ services is currently unequal. Why me? will continue to seek to anchor RJ as an option for all victims in their recovery.
