Why me? survey – Communicating with Victims about Restorative Justice
National statistics show that just 7.5% of victims recall being offered the opportunity to meet their offender. In pursuit of our aim to increase access to restorative justice for all victims of crime we have carried out a survey on how each PCC area promotes restorative justice.
We have examined this from the perspective of a victim with no, or limited, knowledge of restorative justice, imagining the types of questions which they might ask. The task was undertaken by our volunteer intern Sophie Jess, and we would like to thank her for her hard work on this project.
A copy of the summary report is available here:
Why me? will be sending individual reports to all Police and Crime Commissioners and hope they will use the information provided to make improvements for the benefit of victims.
