Hear from The Parole Board’s CEO about latest RJ guidance

Published: Friday, May 21st, 2021

Two women approached Why me? six years ago with concerns about the way that the Parole Board was considering Restorative Justice in their cases.

It was clear that many members of the Parole Board required a greater understanding of how Restorative Justice works, and the ways in which it should be considered when making decisions about Parole. Why me? have been working with the Parole Board ever since to help them build this understanding.

The Parole Board have recently published guidance about how to take Restorative Justice into account in the parole process, accompanied by a blog by their Chief Executive Martin Jones, who has been a champion of victims’ rights and Restorative Justice.

Martin Jones will be speaking in more detail about this work at our event on June 8th alongside Paul Kohler, who will share his lived-experience of the Restorative Justice process. Join us to hear from these key speakers, learn from those that headed the project and engage in lively discussion.

This guidance is the accumulation of five years collaborative work with Parole board members, restorative practitioners and those with lived-experience of Restorative Justice and the Parole process. Thank you so much to everyone who worked for many years to make this happen.
