5 ways you can support Why me?
This is a blog by our Communications and Events Coordinator, Keeva Baxter.
It was #GivingTuesday this week, a time to celebrate generosity and support the charities that you value. We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who supports us, this week and throughout the year. Without you, we could not do the work that we do. In this blog, we explore five ways you can support Why me?.
Donate
As a small charity, every donation counts. By making a donation to Why me?, you are supporting us to carry on our work widening access to Restorative Justice for everyone affected by crime.
We understand that not everyone can make a donation, particularly at the moment. However, you can still support Why me? by doing some of the following.
Nominate us for a Movement for Good Award
The Benefact Group have set up the Movement for Good programme to give up to £1 million to charities and good causes. You can nominate Why me? as your chosen charity to give us a chance of winning £1000. You can search for us using our charity number, 1137123.
Join our community on Easyfundraising
As you do your Christmas shopping this year, you could be contributing to Why me?, at no extra cost to you. When you sign up to Easyfundraising, every time you shop online with one of their 7,500 partner brands, they donate to your chosen cause. This holiday season, join our 24 supporters who will give back to Why me? as they shop.
Get involved and share our resources
One great way to help Why me? is to get involved in what we do and share our resources with your networks. One of our key missions is to widen access to Restorative Justice. Part of this is sharing information about Restorative Justice amongst as many people as possible.
For example, you could share our new podcast, Restorative Talks, which explores how the restorative process works, who it is for and what the future of RJ looks like. We were joined by our Ambassador, Janika, who shared her story about surviving a violent knife attack and going through the restorative process. Her unique testimony can help explain the power of Restorative Justice to new audiences. We encourage you to share it widely to help spread the word about how transformative the restorative process can be.
Become a corporate sponsor
Why me? are generously sponsored by businesses like TwoPlus1 and gunnercooke. TwoPlus1 have supported small businesses to develop and implement effective IT and Web hosting services since 2004. They are giving a percentage of their profits from hardware sales to Why me? each quarter. Thank you!
gunnercooke provide legal and other services and support charities like Why me? through their foundation hub, encouraging charities to grow from a solid base. They have set up House of Books and Friends, a bookshop and community centre in Manchester, which is well worth popping in to.
The Business Network International Square Mile Chapter has supported the charity throughout the last year through free membership and individual donations, as well as corporate sponsorship, such as Twoplus1.
If you run a business and are interested in sponsoring Why me?, get in touch via info@why-me.org.
Thank you for your ongoing support, you’re helping us to ensure that more people affected by crime can get the support they need to heal and move on.
