Why me? are excited to announce the launch of a national billboard campaign promoting Restorative Justice in partnership with the JCDecaux Community Channel

There are four different designs which will appear on hundreds of billboards across major cities in the UK, running until the end of the month. You can find a billboard near you using our interactive map below. You may have to wait a couple of minutes before you see our campaign, as the billboard rotates through other designs.

If you’re planning on visiting a particular location, let us know and we can double check it will be showing when you visit!

People affected by crime can’t choose Restorative Justice if they don’t know about it.

Awareness of Restorative Justice is low and inconsistent. Despite their entitlement in the Victims’ Code of Practice, we know that victims of crime are simply not receiving information about Restorative Justice. We also know that people affected by specific crime types, such as hate crime and domestic and sexual violence, face additional barriers to access, as do members of marginalised communities.

This billboard campaign is an important step towards reaching people who are currently left out of the Restorative Justice conversation. We hope that the campaign will promote public awareness, and in turn, greater access to and increased uptake of Restorative Justice services.

We worked with creative agency The Raised Eyebrow Society to conceive the campaign, and the billboards explain Restorative Justice in a way that is simple and easy-to-understand.

Sara Dowling, CEO at Why me?, said: “Restorative Justice is a powerful tool that can transform the lives of people affected by crime, but most people simply don’t know what it is. This campaign is a chance to change that. What a wonderful opportunity to reach new audiences and raise awareness of the life-changing benefits of Restorative Justice. Thank you to JCDecaux UK for making this possible.”

Chris Dooley, Head of Social Impact at JCDecaux UK, said: “We are proud to support this important campaign, using the power of the public screen to raise awareness about the Restorative Justice services available to people whose lives have been affected by crime. The JCDecaux Community Channel was created to open up access to Out-of-Home to both charitable initiatives and communities and I look forward to seeing this campaign up on the streets.”

We are proud to launch this important campaign, particularly at such a pivotal moment for Restorative Justice amongst policymakers and the public. Restorative Justice is a transformative process, and the more people know about it, the more individuals and communities will be able to heal, move on, and prosper.

Thank you to the JCDecaux Community Channel for their support.

If you see one of our billboards in person, take a picture and send it to us – we would love to share it on our social media platforms! For the first five pictures that we receive, we will send you a gift!
