Engaging Stakeholders Effectively Toolkit

The Engaging Stakeholders Effectively toolkit is a resource created for Restorative Justice (RJ) Service Managers and Practitioners, who want to engage and influence local decision-makers.

Its content is the result of feedback received at a Summer workshop hosted by Why me?, where Practitioners across three Police and Crime areas gathered to share ideas and experience in how its service is promoting RJ and best practice locally.

How to use this toolkit?

The toolkit is divided into three sections – including a mix of interviews, advice and practice from a range of professionals from the RJ field.

Section 2: Engaging stakeholders effectively

Case studies and examples of individuals engaging different sections within the criminal justice system.

Section 3: Developing a Local Observer Programme

Looks more specifically at the National Observer Programme and gives advice for setting up a local programme.

Section 4: Resources

References other academic and research journals which maybe of interest to other criminal justice professionals interested in learning more about RJ process. Note that all practical resources, forms and template letters found in the right hand panel are available to download.

I was significantly influenced in my understanding of Restorative Justice from talking to those involved in delivering this vital service. Victims and offenders can only benefit if those who influence the big decisions learn more about Restorative Justice. I hope you find this toolkit useful and wish you well in your endeavours.
