Why me? offers a range of services which can be directly commissioned to increase access to Restorative Justice and to support the workforce involved with the organising and delivery.
Founded in 2009, Why me? has been working tirelessly through our policy and campaigning work as well as our own Restorative Justice delivery service to improve victims’ access to Restorative Justice. Through this we have developed a wealth of experience, knowledge and expertise.
We offer a range of support available to increase awareness of Restorative Justice for public, victims and key stakeholders. These may include access to our RJ victim ambassadors, the observer programme, strategic workshops or jointly developed campaigns.
We offer a wide range of training services including programmes which can be targeted for distinct sectors such as Probation, Victim Services or Magistrates. Accredited RJ training can be also delivered to practitioners, including complex and sensitive training.
We offer supervision of Restorative Justice Facilitators. Too often this element of the work is left to managers. Without quality expert supervision, RJ facilitators’ skills and confidence can be impacted. It is critical that Restorative Justice services work to the RJC best practice guidelines.
We engage a number of consultants who have diverse expertise within the Restorative Justice field. We can complete locality based audits, assessing strengths and weakness of local RJ systems and delivery models and producing simple to implement action plans. We can support the development of KPIs enabling more effective strategic assessment of performance and management. In addition we can work with localities supporting them in gaining the Restorative Justice Council’s Restorative Service Quality Mark (RSQM).
Serious and Complex Case Work
Delivering RJ work to this victim and offender group has its own unique set of challenges. However there is a growing body of evidence demonstrating positive outcomes for these victims through the delivery of professional support. It is also apparent that economic savings coupled with high victim satisfaction and reduced offending make the use of RJ in these cases highly appropriate and desirable, while delivering long term benefits to the local community.
