Volunteer with us!
Why me? has a number of exciting volunteering opportunities. You’ll be joining our impactful organisation at an exciting time in its development. As one of our valued volunteers, you will have the opportunity to learn new skills and make a difference.
Why me? has a small but dedicated team working hard to campaign for and deliver Restorative Justice for people affected by crime and conflict. Restorative Justice brings those affected by crime into communication, bringing transformational understanding and healing. For victims, it reduces trauma, allowing them to move on. For perpetrators, it can change attitudes and behaviour, reducing reoffending.
We are currently looking for volunteers in the following areas:
- Communications and Digital Marketing: Work with our Communications and Campaigns Manager to raise awareness of Why me?’s activities using social media platforms. Key tasks will include: the drafting and scheduling of social media posts; researching content and liaising with guest contributors for blogs; maintaining and updating our website; creating graphics; identifying potential partnerships and media opportunities; and tracking campaign performance metrics.
- Policy and Campaigns: Why me? regularly engages with policy-makers, PCCs and government, shaping the national conversation around Restorative Justice. As a Policy and Campaigns Volunteer, you will play a key role by: assisting in the research and drafting of policy papers, briefing notes and reports; monitoring relevant developments and key discussions within the sector; and contributing to the drafting of letters, petitions and policy submissions aimed at influencing decision makers.
- Fundraising: Working with our CEO and her Deputy to develop funding proposals and applications, you will: conduct research on relevant trusts, foundations and corporations; assist with the writing of content for the applications; administer our donor and funder databases; and help to provide feedback to funders about how the funding is being spent.
- IT and Website Support: We are looking for a volunteer with extensive IT skills and experience with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office to help us with a range of IT development projects including: database development and management; Google Drive organisation and mapping; website development and management; and providing recommendations to Why me? on the efficient and effective use of our digital systems.
