All Party Parliamentary Group on Restorative Justice

The All Party Parliamentary Group on Restorative Justice was formed in April 2021. It is chaired by Elliot Colburn, the Conservative MP for Carshalton & Wallington, whose constituents, Ray and Vi Donovan, are dedicated campaigners for Restorative Justice.

All Party Parliamentary Groups are informal, cross-party groups, run by and for MPs and Lords to focus on a specific issue of interest. The Restorative Justice APPG’s goals are:

  • To examine the use of Restorative Justice principles within the UK justice system and beyond.
  • To raise the profile of Restorative Justice principles within Parliament.
  • To provide opportunities for policy discussion and consultation.

Why me? are on the APPG’s Advisory Board alongside other organisations which deliver, research and campaign for Restorative Justice.

Following a series of oral evidence sessions, and many responses to the written consultation, the APPG released findings from its initial inquiry into Restorative Practices in 2021/22.

The report makes 9 key recommendations for how to widen the use of restorative practice across the country.
