A new short film about the power of Restorative Justice has been released, in collaboration with Kestrel Theatre, who deliver in prison theatre workshops.
Dorothy Allen-Pickard, the film’s Director said the following: “We wanted to make this film to develop a way of telling stories about prison, crime and restorative justice that places people with lived experience at the centre of the creative process. We began by holding workshops with Kestrel Theatre alumni to explore themes of forgiveness and rehabilitation, devising and improvising scenes that informed the script, written by Simon Longman, a Kestrel Theatre associate artist. Jacob Dunne, whose story became the Olivier award-winning West End play The Punch, acted as our story consultant. We cast Ricardo in his first onscreen role after discovering his brilliant talent in Kestrel prison workshops, and we had the immense fortune of working with Sharon Duncan Brewster, who starred in Dune and is an ambassador for Clean Break.”
