Why me? in the Telegraph: “I met the man who murdered my identical twin. What he told me brought me peace”
Why me?’s Ambassador, Nick Dawson, was interviewed for an article that was shared in The Telegraph this week. In it, Nick shared the story of how he met the man who murdered his identical twin brother, Simon. Nick’s story is a testament to how transformative Restorative Justice can be. Meeting Craig allowed Nick to get his questions answered and share the impact that the crime had on the lives of all who loved Simon.
“As they talked, Roberts began to make more eye contact and Nick says he felt something shift: “I started to have empathy for the person who killed my twin. He was there to talk and take responsibility. I felt he wanted to help me.”
“The conversation prompted a huge release of emotion and anger. It was a catalyst to a bigger feeling, too: acceptance, a sense of being “at peace” that emerged over the next few years.”
Nick goes on to share how the process led to him working with Why me?, writing his book and sharing his story with people in prison.
